Moore Charitable Foundation Funds Charity Event

The third annual Celebration of Our Bays benefit event took place on August 17 at the home of Mrs. Peter Salm, in the Port of Missing Men; a historic hunting estate owned by the Salm family, the 2000 acre property. The 'Port of Missing Men' is named so in order to honour the seamen who lost their lives in the 1893 Lykens Valley wreck,.

Organisers, Peconic Baykeeper, thanked the kindness and generosity of long-time supporters Louis Bacon and Ann Colley for their donation towards the cost of the event. The Moore Charitable Foundation duo made their donation through the Robins Island Foundation in order to help with the cost of hosting the event, which included cocktails, music, and hors d'oeuvres by local catering firm Tim Burke Productions.

A celebration of the Peconic Baykeeper's clean water programs was a true support of the work done by the charity, as well as a support for the local community, using local businesses to provide for the event. Another local supporter, world famous actor Alec Baldwin attended as a special guest of honour at the 3 hour event. Baldwin grew up on Long Island and is a supporter of New York causes.

For the last 15 years, Louis Bacon and Ann Colley have been avid supporters of the bay; playing a critical role in ensuring that a Bayskeeper is appointed for ongoing management of the waterways, and overseeing of the future developments to protect Peconic Bay. An advocate for conservation and clean water filtration, hedge fund manager Bacon spends a lot of his time working alongside various charities who share the same views on preserving landscape and improving the land for cultivation of plants, and maintaining a healthy habitat for plant and animal life.

The Peconic Baykeeper has credited Bacon and Colley for their involvement in protecting the waters of the bay and the South Shore, allowing for those in the East End to enjoy life near the coastline.
