Bacon Conserves Trinchera

Louis Bacon has donated his Trinchera Blanca Ranch to a local conservation easement in order preserve the wildlife, waterways, and also to prevent any further destruction of the natural habitat.

Conservation is a passion for hedge fund manager Louis Bacon, he understands the need to protect the natural habitats of America in order to safeguard the future of certain animals who depend on it. In June 2012, Ken Salazar, the United States Secretary of the Interior, announced with Daniel M. Ashe, the director of the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, that Louis Bacon was to donate his land, sized at approximately 90,000 acres, in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The ranch that borders the San Luis Valley in Colorado will be placed into conservation.

Bacon’s enthusiasm for preservation and conservation initially came to light over 20 years ago in 1992 as he created The Moore Charitable Foundation to provide financial support for the charities and organisations which work hard in order to protect wildlife habitat and improve water systems.

Louis Bacon supports various other organisations that are willing to help preserve the natural environment and speaks very fondly of them; such as the Colorado Coalition of Land Trusts and the Conservation Easement Tax Credit. Louis Bacon spoke of their involvement with the Trinchera Ranch: “CCLT play a critical role in the conservation of Colorado’s beautiful landscapes. Their support and partnership with the Moore Charitable Foundation and Trinchera Blanca Foundation have been instrumental throughout our efforts to conserve and protect Trinchera Blanca Ranch.”

Over the years Louis Bacon has managed to win over the public’s affection with his hard work setting up the charity, and his relentless approach to protecting the great American landscape. Dan Pike, the President of Colorado Open Lands, spoke about Bacon: “imagine a better conservation owner for Trinchera Ranch, or really any property in the United States, than Louis Bacon.”

Louis Bacon was also praised by John Hickenlooper, the Governor of the State of Colorado as he said, “Louis Bacon’s unwavering passion and support for protecting and preserving our environment is a shining example that I hope inspires others in the conservation community.” This business man seems to have sparked a lot of media attention which has helped the public put forward their thoughts and protect the historic value of their environment.
